Steamboat Springs School District serves approximately 2300 K-12 students in Northwest Colorado. The district has two K-5 elementary schools as well as a 6-8 middle school and a 9-12 high school. The North Routt Community Charter School and the Yampa Valley high school are also within the district.

Steamboat Springs School District is one of 19 districts recognized as “Accredited with Distinction” by the State of Colorado. This recognition is based on the district’s academic achievement, academic growth, gaps in growth for disadvantaged student subgroups, and student preparation for post-secondary and workforce readiness.

Agency Description:
Main goal: To develop environmental learning opportunities for residents and guests of NW Colorado. Established in 1992 Yampatika continues to be the only non-profit organization that offers a continuum Yampatika-Photo2of educational services for ages preK through senior citizen in Routt, Moffat & Jackson Counties.

Yampatika operates an Environmental Learning Center at the City of Steamboat Springs-owned Legacy Ranch. The historical ranch is a rural backdrop for cutting edge science programming for youth (incl. at risk), adults & families with camps, school programs, self-guided tours, and snowshoe adventures.

Yampatika is part of a statewide and national movement to create systemic change in schools with our Environmental Literacy Program serving K-5th grades.

Each year we serve 15,000 with safe, enjoyable, and educational outdoor activities that instill a sense of environmental stewardship.
Our offices, Nature Center & Book Store are located within in the USFS Building in Steamboat Springs, CO.
